Marilyn Hung, founder and owner of MaryEllen Graphics, studied art, graphic design, and web design at Cañada College, California.

"I combine my interest in art and design with a keen interest in education, and in addition to my free-lance design commissions, I work as a student assistant at Cañada College, both as a peer tutor in the learning center and an assistant in the Multi-Media Studio. I have a special interest in issues surrounding literacy for adults and the learning disabled, and in bi-lingual education, and am currently working on my own print and web based materials in these areas. I would welcome the opportunity to partner with others working in this field."

Marilyn was born in England, and studied Politics at Sussex University’s School of English and American Studies, graduating with honors from their Bachelor of Arts program. After several years working with developmentally disabled children in Germany and England, she obtained her teaching qualification (Post-Graduate Certificate in Education, or PGCE), in History, Social Studies, and English at High School level, and taught for a time in a private language school, as an ESL (English as a Second Language) instructor.

After moving to California, Marilyn took time out to raise her two children, and during this time worked as a volunteer classroom aide, assisting with the school's fine arts, language arts, and math programs, for Kindergarten through third grade, as well as their social studies and multi-cultural activities for all age levels. She eventually returned to paid employment as the school’s Librarian. Throughout this time, she also taught various crafts through the local recreation department, and taught her own children and their friends drawing, painting, clay modeling, and other creative activities.

In 1995, Marilyn returned to College, taking classes in graphic design, web design, studio art, computer skills, and Spanish. In 1999, she set up her own graphic design studio, and has since worked on a variety of projects, including web sites for a tile-setting company and for a popular current affairs radio program; designed tee-shirts, truck signs, business cards, advertising brochures, flyers, and book jackets; as well as working on her own digital and studio art works.
